A space for those with something to share

The ideal place for your retreat

Podere Monellini welcomes teachers and facilitators looking for an authentic, intimate, secluded place to bring their group. We provide the spaces, you provide the programme.

The spaces

Spaces for the activities

The shala is the heart of every activity: eighty square metres of natural light, a sprung wooden floor, windows looking onto the hills and the pool. Quiet, bright and intimate.

The garden in front of the Casale is the shala’s natural extension outdoors — ideal for outdoor practice, circles, moments of sharing, or simply being.

The salt-water pool, the sitting room with the fireplace and piano, and the patio looking over the olive grove complete an environment that invites presence and slowing down.

May, June, September and October are our quietest months.

They’re also the best weather: warm days, cool nights, and no crowds anywhere in the Maremma. That’s when we can offer you the whole estate at the lowest price. If your retreat can move outside high season, everything here works in your favour.

There are hundreds of houses with a pool in this part of Tuscany. Rooms where twenty people can fit comfortably on a mat, almost none.

Two and a half hours from Rome and Florence airports, about 45 minutes from Grosseto station.

Questions

What teachers actually ask

How many people can practise in the shala at once?

Fifteen comfortably, but even twenty if needed. It’s 80 m² with a sprung wooden floor — it’s one of the reasons groups who come once come back.

What is a sprung floor and why does it matter?

The shala floor is built on a suspended structure rather than laid on concrete, so it gives slightly underfoot. Dancers and dynamic-yoga teachers notice within the first class. It’s the reason groups who’ve been here once come back.

Can we cook for ourselves?

Yes. There are two full kitchens, one in each building. Groups who bring their own cook use the Casale’s kitchen and serve under the covered terrace.

Is there heating in winter?

Heating isn’t included in the price, but we can work out a quote. The stone walls take a couple of days to warm up, so it’s best to arrange it before you arrive.

Will anyone else be on the property?

No other guests: both farmhouses are yours and there’s no other booking while you’re here. Ginevra grew up on this estate and still lives here with her family, in their own separate part — around if you need something, out of the way if you don’t. If you’d like the pool and gardens entirely to yourselves too, tell us when you book and we’ll arrange it.

What are the evenings like?

Starry. This is one of the best areas in Italy for watching the night sky — very little light pollution around. Bring someone who knows the constellations and you already have your evening programme.

How do participants get here?

Fiumicino and Florence are both about two hours by car; Grosseto station is about 45 minutes away. Most groups arrange two or three shared cars.

Can we run a retreat without staying overnight?

Yes — get in touch and we’ll find the best solution together.
